What is Yellow Ribbon benefits?

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University will be participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. The university will partner with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide additional education benefits to eligible service members, veterans and eligible family members who are classified as Non-Pennsylvania residents and eligible for Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill) at the 100% rate.

The Yellow Ribbon program agreement permits KU and the VA to provide matching funds to cover all or a portion of the outstanding amount of established charges not covered under the Post-9/11 GI Bill for Non-Pennsylvania residents who are eligible at the 100% rate. The program covers both undergraduate and graduate students in all matriculating majors.

Students who are classified as Pennsylvania residents, would remain eligible for education benefits through the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other military education benefits, at the appropriate rates, if they qualify.

Kutztown University has been a leader in assisting service men, women and their family members to return to school. KU opened a new Veterans Services Center in September and was named a 2014 Military Friendly School by Victory Media and Military Advanced Education. The university had approximately 155 military-affiliated students enrolled in the 2013-2014 school year.
